Two drivers suspended

PA Auckland Owen Purdon and Stephen Reid have been suspended following inquiries into incidents at Alexandra Park on Tuesday evening. Purdon, the driver of Resemblance in the Meadowset Graphics Mobile Pace, was charged with causing an incident with about 300 m to go. It was alleged Purdon allowed Resemblance to run into the back of Stone Sober’s sulky, causing checks to Surdon and Ryal Hanover. Ryal Hanover and Surdon broke for a few strides. Purdon was suspended up to and including February 28. Reid was charged with careless driving after the Eyelure Cosmetics Mobile It was alleged City Byrd (Reid) shifted inwards on to Bay Count (David Butcher), which, in turn, was forced in on Fellazan (Colin Evans) just short of the finish. Reid was suspended up to and including February 28. The Cambridge horseman, David Butcher, was fined $lOO after the Harvey Furnishings Handicap. It was held that Butcher moved Gene Evander off the fence, pushing Skipper Vantar (Mike Nicholas) three wide. Geoff Small, the successful driver of Mullaghmena in the Dricon Mobile Pace, was fined $5O for careless driving.
