Swannee Hobbs top chance tonight

Swannee Hobbs appears to have a good chance of providing the proprietor of Bunny Lodge, Ray Adcock, with a win in the event which he has sponsored, the Bunny Lodge Stakes, at the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club’s on-course only meeting at Queen Elizabeth II Park this evening. The outstanding daughter of Kilty Hobbs and Lisa Havoc was an impressive winner at her last outing at Hutt Park on February 10, and is improving with each race. Drawing box No. 7 should not worry her as she tends to settle back in the early running before making her run. It would be a great tribute to Ray Adcock, if either of his representatives, Swannee Hobbs or Lee Moran, could take out the event as he has sponsored a class 5 event at all South Island tracks this season. Although well beaten at his last outing, Merely Magic, which has had a slight setback, should be ready again to strike form and should prove hard to catch if he can clear the field in the early race for positions. Sir James has drawn well at box No. 1 and could take some heading as he likes to lead in his races, while Tredeka Do is sure to come in for a lot of support after going down by a head to Lacey Rose on February 4. The evening’s programme includes two heats each for the Mayors Cup (cl) and Lord Shannon Cup (C 3 to select a field for the $5OO finals which will be held at the club’s on-course only meeting on Thursday, March 13.
