Brilliant Lord is progressing well

By

JEFF SCOTT

Brilliant Lord looked to be progressing well in a new campaign by easily winning a two-year-old pacers heat at the Addington trials yesterday.

The Lordship colt was always travelling well in front, clearing out to win by seven and a half lengths. The Graham Court-trained youngster recorded 2min 43.4 s for the 2000 m, running his last 800 m in Imin 1.3 s with his second last 400 m in 29.35. El Red led the vain chase after the winner, with 22 lengths back to the others.

Bobby, a son of Smooth Fella and Wee Ann in Clem Scott’s Halswell team, finished best to win the first two-year-old heat

in 2min 45.25, beating Cheeky Module by a neck, the leaders being timed over their last 800 m in Imin 4.15. Other heat winners, all 2600 m, were: CO Pacers, Bluefire Countess (3min 31.95), Citizen Kane (3min 37.55), Dryden Dell (3min 34.65) and Albas Dream (3min 34.65); CO trotters, Circular Note (3min 36.95) and Lucky Yank (3mln 31.45); Cl and faster trotters, Trophy Boy (3min 46.15) and Cl and faster pacers, Lady Noodlum (3min 32.85). • Waihemo Jean, which created a favourable impression when she finished well for fourth in Speedy Cheval’s 2000 m (mobile) juvenile record run of 2min 33s at Addington Raceway on February 7, is to do her future

racing from Jack Smolenski’s Weedons stable. The smart Noodlum— Shona Del filly, which followed up that effort with another fourth behind the colts and geldings, Speedy Cheval, Florlis Fella and Bellam at Addington on Saturday, has been purchased by the West Melton bloodstock agent, Kevin Ryder, and syndicated to race in New Zealand. She had recorded a fifth and two fourths in three starts for her former Waikouaiti partowner and trainer, Noel Creighton.

Waihemo Jean has been scratched from Invercargill Licensing Trust Two-year-old Fillies Mobile Pace at the Invercargill meeting on Saturday.
