This work on a mural in Dunlop New Zealand, Ltd’s, Woolston tyre factory is being done in exchange for demolition material from the building. A graphic artist from Nga Hau E Wha marae, Mr James Nathan, exchanged his labour for materials which will be used for building projects on the marae. The personnel manager at the factory, Mr Chris Perry, said it was a good “barter deal” which used local talent to brighten up the interior of the factory. The traditional Maori design represents continuous generations and strength. Most workers at the factory liked it, said Mr Perry.
