Unitary construction and independent front suspension are now features shared by all modern cars. They first appeared in the Italian Lancia Lambda in 1922. This 1927 version of the Lambda was probably originally the property of the Victorian police force, which used many of the open tourers. This example has been entered in the Pan-Pacific Rally by the Australians, Messrs J. and L. Hardman. The Lambda remained in production until the early thirties and did much to establish Lancia as one of the world’s sporting marques.
