PA Wellington The Wellington-based concrete pipe manufacturer Humes Industries (NZ), Ltd, reported a slight increase in tax-paid profit to $1,682,000 ($1,646,000) for the six months ended December 31.

Trading profit before tax was $2,993,000 ($3,049,000), and income from investment was $117,000 ($116,000). Tax took $1,428,000 ($1,519,000). There were no extraordinary items or capital profits.
Interim dividend is 3c a share, or 6 per cent, with books closing March 13.
