Rescue ship behind
The arrival at Lyttelton of the L.P.G. container vessel Tarihiko has been put back a day because of her assistance in rescuing passengers and crew from the Mikhail Lermontov. The 2169-ton Tarihiko was due to arrive at Lyttelton tomorrow to discharge her tanks. She was called to assist the Soviet passenger ship on Sunday evening while on her way to New Plymouth. The stricken Mikhail Lermontov sank soon after' the hundreds of passengers and crew were taken off — many aboard the Tarihiko, which made for Wellington. The Tarihiko was due to leave Wellington at 4 p.m. yesterday and continue to New Plymouth in an effort to make up for lost time. ARRIVALS Nil.
