Driver leads
NZPA staff correspondent Washington The New Zealand racing driver, Steve Millen, is leading a truck-racing championship in the United States after the first two rounds of competition. Driving for the Toyota factory team, Millen won at Indianapolis three weeks ago and then again at Detroit last Saturday evening. In between he finished twenty-second after leading early in the Daytona 24-hour sports car race at
Daytona Beach. Millen said he and his co-driyers kept in for 20 hours of the race ? before the engine of their Pontiac Firebird gave out . when they were about * third place. In the truck events, j where $230,000 sophistic- ~ ated 300 h.p. utility,trucks are raced, Millen has 76 * points, 16 ahead of his • nearest rival.' There are another nine rounds of the champion- “ ship to be raced. Millen is now based in California.
