Woman found stabbed
PA Auckland A 27-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death at her home in the Auckland suburb of Remuera late yesterday.
Ambulancemen called to the house about 6 p.m.
could not save the woman, who had suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest and arms. After a post-mortem examination last evening, the dead woman was named. She was
Meripa Tooala, aged 27, a factory hand. She is thought to have died in the bedroom of the house. A woman friend, also in the house at the time, raised the alarm. The police said a man, aged 28, found at a house in Ellerslie was arrested and charged last evening with murder. He would appear in the District Court at Auckland this morning.
