Woman attacked in bed
PA. Auckland The police are investigating a brutal assault on a woman at her home in Auckland early yesterday. The woman, aged 35, a Canadian who has lived in New Zealand for four years, was attacked by an intruder who broke into her'house at Beachhaven just after midnight.
The woman woke with the intruder standing over her, and she was punched in the face and struck on the hands. The woman screamed, alerting two other occupants in the house, and the man escaped. He took her handbag, which contained more than $6OO in cash. The woman was treated for cuts to the head and three suspected broken fingers.
