Free check-up for kids
PA Wellington Street kids and other disadvantaged people in Wellington will soon be offered a free medical check-up, the “Dominion” newspaper reported yesterday. The service was the result of a police move which noted many young people with head lice, ear and nose complaints, and
veneral diseases, the paper said. Those with V.D. were not seeking medical attention either because they could not afford it or because of the stigma. With Health Department funding, a medical centre for the children would be set up in rooms at an existing social services centre.
