Injured guide still in hospital

The alpine guide injured in a week-end fall from the Haast Peak in the Westland National Park is still in a satisfactory condition in Grey Hospital. Mr Bill Atkinson, a Mount Cook guide, hurt his arm and shoulder when he and Mr Martin Perry, of Melbourne, fell while roped together. It was earlier reported, that the Australian climber was Russell Bryce. > The accident happened on Saturday afternoon after Mr Atkinson had been struck by falling rock. Mr Bryce, another Mount Cook guide, gave first aid treatment to the two men until a helicopter arrived to fly them to Fox Glacier. Mr Perry suffered cuts and bruises, but was not admitted to hospital.
