Ashburton mobile
Ashburton reporter The Ashburton Trotting Gub hoped to have its first mobile start vehicle ready at the end of this week, a club spokesman said yesterday. Mr Graeme Marshall said the club had formerly relied on neighbouring clubs for mobile starts, but at cost to itself. It decided to make up one of its own The club bought an XD Ford Falcon utility vehicle and the Timaru builder was at present fitting the starting equipment to It. The total cost of the project was about $lB,OOO and the new start would handle nine horses across the front line of any race.
