Time for a laugh, with the sharemarket likely to drop, the kiwi dollar high, and interest rates rising. Today, the business pages begin a new feature: the cartoon strip, C.B. It will appear on these pages every day, provided space permits.

A highly successful business tycoon. Tough, ruthless, singleminded. But also human, and not entirely unsentimental ... There could well be, in Ciambo’s memories, the equivalent of a sled named "Rosebud” ...
The company accountant Utterly ingenuous andjfunqenchably cheer-
man, C. B. Clambo. The group includes Clambo Foods, Clambo Oil, Clambo Manufacturing, Clambo Aerospace, Clambo Publishing, Clambo Films, Clambo Construction, etc. The strip is by Ann Martell, a freelance writer of advertising, scripts for audio-visuals and training films, comedy scripts (including for two episodes of the “Two Ronnies”) and drama. Now meet the main characters.

Advertising. Lives in a ferment of creativity stirred by the current "product image positioning levels” and "brandname awareness ratings.”
Head of international operations. A super jetsetter, suave and sophisticated, he has joined
with the Rothschilds, and been profiled by “Vogue.” Clambo still cannot figure him out
Ciambo’s private secretary. Ever patient and solicitous towards her boss, despite (or perhaps because of) her close-up view of him.
Ciambo’s right-hand man. The only person Clambo trusts, and who is, secretly, Ciambo’s greatest admirer.
A Greek shipping
tycoon, friend of Clambo. A self-made multimillionaire, with honours in melancholy.
Immersed in the abstractions of finance, he emerges only to explain, in highly esoteric terms, what everyone knows already.
