PA Wellington Companies should consider investigating possible cases of internal fraud themselves before calling in the police, says the director of investigative services, Detective Superintendent Colin Wilson. Hard-pressed specialist units could spend a lot of time looking at problems
which seemed to be criminally based, only to find they were not, he said. ; Police who investigated company fraud did not want to be used as management consultants. “Situations can. exist which may be totally improper or irresponsible or unauthorised, but which are not evidentially proved as criminal.”
