Dry in the north and east of the South Island but rain developing in Fiordland by morning and spreading into south Westland, and parts of Southland. District forecasts: Canterbury: High cloud increasing; easterlies about the coast, and moderate

northwesterlies inland; warm. Nelson, Marlborough: Fine and mild; moderate northerlies. Buller, Westland: Cloudy and mild; moderate northerly winds, with scattered rain developing in the south. Tomorrow: Rain clearing in Westland, fine elsewhere. Extended forecast until Monday: Fine and warm in most South Island areas.
