Surgery funds plea
PA Auckland An Auckland couple, fighting to save the life of a critically ill Fijian toddler, are appealing to New Zealand businesses for financial help. 14r and Mrs Ron Harris have supported a public appear for the Fiji Indian girl, aged three, who needs an urgent hole-in-the-heart operation at Green Lane Hospital.
But their fund-raising has fallen $12,500 short of the $15,000 needed for the lifesaving operation costs for Bhavane Solanki of Suva. Mr Harris is posting a plea for the help to as many business as his pension income will allow. He said he was disappointed New Zealanders had failed to come up with more money. "All it needs is for 15,000 people to put in $1 each,” he said.
