Elders boosts N.Z. interests

PA Wellington Elders Pastoral, Ltd, has bought the stock and station activities of the Farmers Co-operative Organisation Society in Wanganui, Marton and Feilding. The purchase gives the Australia-based company access to two strategic saleyards, Fordell, near Wanganui, and Feilding, which is the country’s biggest cattle-selling centre, Elders said. Elders will operate its regional woolbroking activities through Fanners Cooperative Wools, Ltd, in Wanganui. The stock and station staff of FCOS would join Elders Pastoral. The company’s motor division business was excluded from the agreement. The transaction is subject to approval of the Examiner of Commercial Practices, the Overseas Investment Commission, and the agreement of present partners of FCOS in the two

respective saleyards, Dalgety Crown, Ltd, and Wrightson NMA, Ltd. Elders Pastoral expects the transaction to take ef-.. feet from February 1.
