More cars produced
NZPA-Reuter Detroit United States car makers had their best production year since 1979 last year, turning out 8.2 million cars in a 5.5 per cent increase over the previous year, the companies reported. The over-all gain was propelled by General Motors, Chrysler Volkswagen of America and United States production by the Japanese car makers, Honda and Nissan. Ford Motor and American Motors both reported decreases.
