Two ships which laid up at Lyttelton over the New Year holiday period will resume work this week. The coastal shipping vessels Spirit of Competition and the Coastal Trader will be spick and span when they restart their runs. Both vessels were maintained and surveyed during the break. The 6736-ton Coastal Trader, a New Zealand line vessel, yesterday sailed to the oil wharf to refuel and then on to Z berth to load cargo. The familiar orange-painted vessel is then expected to sail for Auckland today. She will return to her Auckland-Lyttel-ton-Dunedin run and will again be in port every Monday and Wednesday. During her lay-up, the Coastal Trader has berthed at No. 2 West Pacifica Shipping’s 1600-ton Spirit of Competition resumed her Lyttelton-Wellington run yesterday when she sailed for the North Island.
