Complaint about Robins
PA Auckland Fertility Action, the group which led the campaign against the Daikon Shield intra-uterine device, has complained to an American judge about the conduct of a representative of the A. H. Robins company Who visited New Zealand last week. A spokeswoman for the
group, Ms Sandra Coney, said yesterday that she had written to Judge Merhige of the Virginia Court, which is controlling the setting up of a procedure by which claims for injuries allegedly caused by the Daikon Shield will be heard. She said a Rebins representative from AmtraHa, Mr Max Miller, implied that a press conference in Weil-
ington last week was held out of human concern for the women injured and a desire to see the women apprised of their rights. This ignored the fact that Robins, continued to sell Daikon Shields in New Zealand and other countries for nine months after it discontinued United States sales in June, 1974, Ms Coney said.
