Robber’s motor-cycle found

Nelson reporter The trail bike used by the man who robbed the Richmond branch of the Westpac Bank of $36,000 has been found.

A tramper investigating a track near the Hackett River in Aniseed Valley found the machine hidden in dense scrub, and advised the police. Its discovery, however, does little to help identify the robber, for the machine was reported stolen in Nelson on September 7 last year.

The Westpac Bank has offered a $5OOO reward for information leading to the conviction of the robber or the recovery of the money. The police are checking a number of names that have been put to the identikit photograph of the robber printed in “The Press” last, Saturday.
