Elders buys scour
PA Wellington Elders Internationa], Ltd (NZ), has stepped up its Hawke’s Bay operations with the purchase of a modern scouring plant from Louis Wood and Son, Ltd, of Awatoto. The Australian-based company bought the plant for its subsidiary, W. Tucker, Ltd. The take-over is effective from May 31. Last month, Elders Pasto-
ral bought the Napier-based woolbroker, B. T. Holmes, Ltd. The latest deal includes the leasing of 10,000 sq m of buildings, which the company’s pastoral division will use for its woolbroking activities. Elders Pastoral’s general manager, development, Mr Sholto Matthews, says the company’s pastoral activities wffi now be based at
the Louis Wood site. The manager of W. Tucker’s scouring operation, Mr Neil Tucker, said the acquisition would give his company the chance to process up to 25 per cent of the Hawke’s Bay clip. The Elder’s international wool division is one of New Zealand’s biggest wool-buy-ing groups. -4.
