$60,000 for buck goat

PA Hamilton Angora goat fever may be cooling judging by prices paid at the first Atawhai Tasman Stud sale, at Reporoa this week. A premier purebred buck Tasman Tiberius fetched the top price of the day of $60,000, well short of the predicted $lOO,OOO. He was bought by Kevin Neesdale, of Feilding, who has recently bought the Wandara Stud from Australia. Two other top Tasman bucks were passed in at $27,500 and $20,000. Several others sold for $16,000. Top price for a doe of Waitangi stock was $10,750; others fetched $10,250 and $9OOO. Altogether 81 of the 89 lots offered were sold for a total of $639,520. The bucks, from Tasman and Tillery stock, averaged $9203 at prices ranging from $2250 to $60,000. Does averaged just under $5500 prices ranging from $2250 to $10,750.
