Healing power of vicar
NZPA-PA London A blind pianist, Albert Lyne, is convinced his sight has been restored by the healing powers of his local vicar.
Mr Lyne, aged 75, had been battling with failing eyesight for more than 30 years when blood clots formed in veins at the back of his eyes. For the last year he was almost completely blind, unable to read his music, and relying heavily on his wife for help. Then his vicar, the Rev. John Yallop, aged 39, knocked on his door and told him: “I have had a message from the Lord to come and heal you.” Mr Yallop, who discovered his healing powers only a year ago, put his hands on Mr Lyne’s head and prayed. When Mr Lyne opened his eyes, he found he could see
more clearly than for the last 30 years — and his eyesight has continued to improve. Mr Lyne, of Canada Street, Pitsmoor, Sheffield, said: “Quite simply, I am convinced it was a miracle. I can see now and get about on my own, and my sight is actually improving.” Mr Yallop, the vicar of St Peter’s Church, Ellesmere, Sheffield, said: “I was visiting the area and I just felt the time was right to call on Albert and pray that he might be healed. “Jesus commanded his disciples to preach and heal, and I believe healing is part of a vicar’s work. “Now we hold regular healing services and Albert is far from our only success. We have a lady who had been’ deaf for 60 years who has had her hearing restored.”
