Personalised service for special cuts
Special cuts of meat will be no trouble to the manager of the butchery section, Mr Garry Townsend. Garry will be happy to oblige any customer who cannot find a particular cut on the shelf. ‘lt is no extra trouble,” he said. The personalised service will be an added feature of the very extensive butchery department. A gourmet bar will give those with an eye for a treat plenty to enthuse about, particularly for the connoisseur of beef olives. “No job will be too small, no job too big,” said Mr Townsend. He is happy to oblige. He will be assisted by a young staff, with Justin Simpson an apprentice and Shona McAllister as head meat packer. Butchery, at North New Brighton, in 1972. He completed his apprenticeship after five years and moved to McNeill Bros, in Rangiora, for five years for more experience in the retail trade. He then joined the Supervalue store at Barrington Street before being asked to manage the Church Corner Supervalue, which he did from 1981 to 1982. The travelling, however, became tiring and Mr Townsend then joined the New World supermarket in Rangiora, where he has worked for the past three years. When the opportunity arose to rejoin Supervalue as the Rangiora butchery manager, Mr Townsend took up the challenge. Mr Townsend is aged 29, married, with two “wee”
