Library trustees appointed
PA Wellington Mrs Elizabeth Gordon and Mrs Patricia Grace have been appointed trustees of the National Library, said the Minister of Education, Mr Marshall, yesterday. Mrs Gordon has taught English at the University of Canterbury since 1967. She had broad research interests in modern linguistic studies including sociolinguistics, and since 1977 had presented the series, “Our Living Language,” on radio’s Concert programme, he said. Mrs Grace was a leading short story writer. In 1978 she published her first novel, “Mutuwhenua,” and in 1982 won the Children’s Picture Book of the Year award for “Kima and the Spider.” “The appointment of Mrs Grace and Mrs Gordon will bring value, experience and expertise to the trustees,” said Mr Marshall.
