FUTURES PCPs down 50 points
Interest-rate (PCP) futures contracts fell about 50 points yesterday on Friday’s prices.
They were reacting to a firming in the rates for 90day bills to about 21.10 per cent, said Mr Geoff McDonnell, futures manager of Mair Astley, Ltd. It was a busy day for the PCP contracts, with 329 lots traded. Much of the pressure was on contracts deliverable in March, Wool futures continued to fall, with prices down about 6c across the range on Friday’s levels. “This is the stress of the
kiwi dollar,” Mr McDonnell said. The kiwi dollar continued to be relatively strong yesterday, and trading was quiet in U.S. dollar futures. Contracts traded over a range of only 20 to 30 points.
