Gentle persons

Sir,—Girls can do anything, or so we are told. The media have recently reported them as being involved in theft, burglary, drunkenness, obscene language, attacks on traffic officers, gang attacks on pensioners, misappropriation of funds, passing of forged cheques, and, presumably, rape and pillage although the latter has not been reported. Whatever happened to the gentle sex, the setters of our community standards, the moderators of male excesses and the guardians of our future? But then we should possibly say “persons can do anything,” and I should not have mentioned sex at all.—Yours, etc.,

K. TALBOT. January 13, 1986.
