CHIEF DRAUGHTSMAN — NEW PLYMOUTH New Zeland Synthetic Fuels Corporation wishes to appoint a suitably qualified person to this responsible position in our Technical Department. The successful candidate will report to our Chief Mechanical Engineer and, as well as exercising overall control of the Drawing Office through a Leading Draughtsman, will be responsible for integrating all drawings, technical documentation and records into a comprehensive system. Considerable liaison with functional Managers will be involved. With the completion of the construction phase of this significant project, the Drawing Office has an increasing role in the design and implementation of new products and plant modifications. Control of this activity demands both technical and administrative skills to ensure drawing and engineering documents are handled efficiently. A technical person with a systems orientation will have good scope to develop a complete reference material resource for our engineers. Being a new organisation, Synfuel makes full use of computer technology in all sections and C.A.D.D. equipment is currently being installed in the Drawing Office. Other personnel reporting to this position include a Librarian, Technical Records Clerk and a varying number of contract personnel in the Drawing Office and Print Room. Candidates must have a successful supervisory record, with at least 10 years experience covering piping and mechanical design, relevant to large scale petrochemical or chemical processing plants.
