University Vacancies THE UNIVERSITY OF - THE SOUTH PACIFIC LECTURER U/LECTURER I IN CROP PRODUCTION (POST 85/66) APPLICATIONS are Invited for the above post The above post Is In the School of Agriculture located on the Alafua Campus in Western Samoa. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with the teaching of courses In the production of field and vegetable crops in the humid tropics to degree and diploma students and for any Research, Extension and Training activities In the same field. Applicants should possess a first degree In Biological Science, Agriculture of Horticulture and preferably a higher degree In a relevant area of crop science and have experience of crop production In the tropics. Salary will be In accordance with qualifications and experience in the Lecturer H scale: F 512,01713,446 or Lecturer I scale: F 513,921-16,919. Appointment will be for a fixed term contract of three years from July or December 1986. The University currently receives aid funds to pay additions to salary as an Inducement to staff from Australia and New Zealand, who are appointed to posts designated for this purpose. This post has been designated for payment of inducement allowance, details of which are available from the Registrar. In addition, the University provides gratuity amounting to 15 per cent of basic salary, appointment allowance and subject to the University’s current housing policy, partly furnished accommodation at a rental of 12.5 per cent of salary. The University will contribute a sum equivalent to 10 per cent of the appointee’s salary towards his superannuation obligations. He or she will be responsible to the Director of Institute of Research, Extension and Training In Agriculture located In Western Samoa for the execution of. the Institute’s programme of research for the Improvement of agriculture in the atoll countries of the South Pacific Region.
