Great debate

Dear Sir, Although I did not view on television the Great New Zealand Debate Comedy Show it is with real concern, and a good deal of sadness, I learnt of some of the contents upon reading a review of the programme in your newspaper. My concern is that a programme containing such obviously tasteless material can be transmitted into our nation’s homes on the pretext of entertainment. While your reviewer has conceded that the humour was “overly sexually orientated,” I cannot argree that this is clever, and feel sad that your newspaper would offer

such a view by publishing this review, including as you have some of the tacky contents. Thankfully we do have an option as to what we view or read, and I share the concern of those who aspire to higher values, and work to reverse the decline of moral standards in this country. Yours, etc., P.J. Roulston.'
