This flowering shrub is easy to look after
Kolkwitzia amabilis belongs to a monotypic genus, with but one or two forms available. This is a very hardy deciduous shrub which, when established, is one of the most floriferous of our spring-flowering plants. The almost bell-shaped flowers
are pale pink with a yellow throat, and are borne on previous season’s growth. The only pruning which may be required from time to time is to encourage new growth and the attractive arching branches, and to remove some of the older, and especially thin, wood.
