Inquest into woman’s death
PA Dunedin An inquest will be held into the death of a Dunedin woman treated by ambulance officers for an apparent drug overdose. The dead woman was Karen Lesley Ballantyne, aged 25, of Carlyle Street. The police went to the North-East Valley address at 1 a.m. onWednesday after St John Ambulance officers reported they were treating a person for drug overdose. The ambulance officers said that when they arrived they found a man trying to resuscitate a pregnant woman. The police said that two other people at the Dunedin house, a man and a woman,
showed symptoms of drug use. The deputy district police commander, Superintendant G. C. Hill, said that no other person was sought in connection with the woman’s death, but a number of items had been removed from the house. An autopsy took place on Wednesday.
