Rude song rocks P.M.

NZPA-AAP London

A French pop star is racing up the charts with an extremely rude song about the British Prime Minister, Mrs Thatcher. Even Fleet Street’s tabloid papers have had difficulty in reproducing the words sung by Renaud.

According to the “Mirror,” the polite version of what he warbles is that he would like to turn himself into a dog so he could do to Mrs Thatcher what dogs normally do to lamp posts.

The lyrics are accompanied by a video which

shows British race riots, unemployment marches, police fighting with strikers and football hooligans. Renaud’s song, translated from French, goes on: “There’s no such thing as a hooligan, tart, idiot or killer

— not even in Britain — apart from Madame Thatcher.

“There’s no woman mean enough to polish a revolver, to feel herself iron tough — apart from Madame Thatcher.”

Downing Street is not amused: “We would not even wish to dignify this thing with a comment,” a spokesman said.
