Canterbury finished seven points ahead of North Shore at the end of the Hansells national women’s cricket tournament at Hagley Oval. Final points were:— Canterbury 53, North Shore 46, Central Districts 41, Wellington, Auckland 26, Southern Districts 10.
Other awards were:—New ' Zealand “cricketer of the year”: Karen Gunn (Canterbury). Bowling trophy: Sue . Brown (Canterbury, 32 wickets). Batting trophy: Debbie • Hockley (North Shore, 356 runs). Team catches: North Shore (35). Wicket-keeping dismissals: Ingrid Jagersma (North shore) and Gunn (11).
