What could prove to be a harbinger from Nissan was displayed by Japan’s second largest car-maker at the recent Tokyo Motor Show. It is the Cue-X, a Jaguar XJ6-sized saloon that is already well beyond the con-
ceptual stage of development, although Nissan claims that it is not earmarked for production. A truly roadworthy car, the Cue-X features electron-ically-controlled engine, transmission and suspension, as well as electroni-
cally-adjustable aerodynamic spoilers and satellite navigation and laser radar systems.
The 3-litre V 6 engine has four valves per cylinder and four overhead camshafts. A variable nozzle turbo-
charger with ceramic turbine services each cylinder bank and there is an intercooler of the latent heat type. According to Nissan, there is nothing in the car that is beyond the realm of reality.
