Appeal against Parton
Star-struck jurors could not have thoroughly considered every issue during the 35 minutes it took them to reject a suit against the country singer, Dolly Parton, the plaintiffs’ lawyer says. Neil and Jan Goldberg, who alleged that parts of Parton’s hit, “9 to 5,” had been lifted from their composition, “Money World,” would appeal against the verdict against them, he said. “She’s a great star. I love her,” he said of Parton. “They (the jurors) loved her, too.” The song, “9 to 5,” was the theme for the 1981 motion picture of the same name starring Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin.—Los Angeles.
