Charges after Christmas Eve shooting
The Christmas Eve shooting of a young woman at Belfast will have its sequel in the District Court this morning when two Christchurch brothers appear to face firearm charges. The police have given the name of the dead woman. She was Deborah Margaret Dumpleton, aged 19, of Kaiteriteri. A man, aged 25, will be charged with causing death by carelessly using a firearm. His brother, aged 20, faces a charge of possessing a loaded firearm in such circumstances as to endanger life.
Miss Dumpleton was shot in the head at a Belfast house on Christmas Eve. She died at Christchurch Hospital on Christmas Day.
