Shipping news Dog pound at Harbour
Dogs creating a nuisance at Diamond Harbour will now have less chance of escaping because a dog pound has been established in the township. The Lyttelton Borough Council approved of the pound, at the council’s Diamond Harbour depot, at a meeting this month. The dog ranger for the Port Hills was formerly based at the Heathcote County Council and so had some distance tc travel if complaints were received from Diamond Harbour, said the Borough Council’s Deputy Town Clerk, Mr Gary Broker. Council staff at Diamond Harbour would be given the power to “arrest” offending dogs and hold them at the depot until the dog ranger arrived, he said. ARRIVALS Saturday Nil. Sunday Nil.
