NZPA-AAP Melbourne Queensland’s Mark Kratzmann continued to rebuke his critics today, stunning the talented Texan Bill Scanlon to sweep into the semifinals of the $U575,000 Jason Victorian Open at Kooyong. Kratzmann, aged 19, brushed aside Scanlon, a former world “P lO Pjayer on the comeback trail after a crippling knee mjury, m straight sets — 6-3, 6-4. And a former Australian Open champion, Mark Edmondson, showed a- long-
awaited return to singles form as he battled past the South Australian Open champion, Eddie Edwards, of South Africa, to reach the semifinals. Edmondson outlasted Edwards 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, and now faces an American, Jonathon Canter, who had few problems in his 6-2, 6-3, win over South Australian, Brod Dyke. In the other semi-final Kratzmann meets Newcastle’s Peter Doohan who defeated a little known South African, Michael Robertson, 7-5, 6-1.
