Turning fat into muscle

A new drug being developed by Scottish scientists is claimed to turn fat to muscle. A team of veterinary scientists at the Hannah Research Institute in Ayr, Scotland, is now testing the genetically engineered protein, which is said to burn up fat and turn it into body building protein

through a simple injection. The treatment is not yet planned for use by humans. It is being developed instead for use in the agricultural industry, where it could lead to a safe and natural way of producing lean meat. The research began with an investigation into why animals get

fatter when pregnant and lose fat when producing milk. The research scientists discovered a natural antibody which attacks the fat and turns it into protein. This improves the quality of the milk for their young. After one injection in a young animal, the fat breaks down and growing animals lay down even more protein than normal.
