Manufacturing statistics
PA Wellington The Department of Statistics’ quarterly economic survey of manufacturing shows that manufacturers’ sales and other income were 17.8 per cent higher for the June, 1985, quarter, compared with the June, 1984, quarter. Purchases and other operating expenses increased 19.8 per cent, salaries and wages were 17.3 per cent higher, and hours worked 7.6 per cent higher.
As at June 30 the value of stocks of materials was 35.1 per cent higher and finished goods 23.2 per cedi higher than at June 30, 1984. For the June, 1985, quarter, compared with the June, 1984, quarter, additions to fixed assets increased by 13.8 per cent. Additions to fixed assets cover both operating and non-operating manufacturing establishments.
