Weather delays canoe
PA Auckland The Hawaiki Nui canoe, expected at Auckland yesterday, was hove to north of Cuvier Island late last evening while bad weather continued. There had been fears for the safety of the crew of the canoe, which was expected at Okahu Bay yesterday afternoon.
But last evening the police discovered that it had hove to about 40km north of Cuvier Island, which is 40km east of the northernmost tip of Coromandel Peninsula.
