Five-pronged bowling attack in rebel XI
NZPA-AAP Durban A five-pronged bowling attack will be taken into the first match with South Africa by the rebel Australian cricket team today. Three fast bowlers and two spinners were named in the eleven tonight The choice of players has finally confirmed that the rebels won’t be able to call on the fast bowlers, Terry Aiderman and Rod McCurdy. Also out with a badly torn' hamstring is the opening batsman, Steve, Smith. The rebels however, have still been able to put to-
gether a comprehensive attack for their first match against the Springboks today; The team was named yesterday by the manager, Bruce Francis, after a meeting of players. The four-day international at the Kingsmead ground climaxes months of preparation by the rebel tour’s organisers and players. Already the rebels have played 10 matches in their warm-up and devoted months to honing their skills and improving their fitness. Despite this a spate of injuries struck them, deplet-
ing the Australian eleven’s frontline.
