FUTURES Test for 49c?
The United States dollar contract market closed near its best levels of the day suggesting that the New Zealand dollar would retest its lows (49c level), said Mr George Price, the futures manager of Egden Wignall and Company, yesterday. Trading in the contract was quiet and erratic, with traders snowing indecision about which way the New Zealand dollar might go next. Trading in the wool contract was again thin, but the market showed a firm undertone. The prime commercial paper (PCP) contract for March showed that most traders were starting to make a gloomy assessment on what the likely course of interest rates would be in the next few months. It was apparent to Egden Wignall that the market still had considerable downside
potential, he said. Details of trading yesterday were:
