Peace marchers pelted

NZPA-Reuter San Jose, Costa Rica Several peace marchers were injured yesterday by bottles and stones hurled at them by Costa Rican Rightists. The incident took place at a hotel in San Jose where some of the 300 marchers, from Europe, Latin

America, and the United States, were staying.

The marchers later scrapped their march plans in Costa Rica and left by buses for the border with Nicaragua, about 300 km away.

The Security Minister, Mr Benjamin Piza, had told them he could not guaran-

tee their safety. The marchers were threatened on Monday after crossing the border from Panama, where they began their 2000 km march.

They are demonstrating for peace in Central America, self-determination for the region, and an end to United States intervention.
