Currency woes hit travellers
PA Wellington The sharp decline in the value of the New Zealand dollar has been a blow to holidaymakers heading to Australia and the United States during the Christmas holidays. For instance, people travelling to Australia who had picked up their money last Wednesday would have received sAustBls.6o for $lOOO. If they went in to their bank yesterday they would have been handed $ Aus t 713.90. Those heading for Hawaii or the United States mainland would have received JUSSSI for $lOOO. Yesterday, they would have got $485. Similarly, London-bound vacationers would have got £335 compared with £384 last week.
