Venison marketing change
The Canterbury-based meat company, Fortex Group, Ltd, has taken over the marketing of venison and deer products produced by Summit Deer Products, Ltd, of Tauranga. Summit will concentrate on processing farmed deer to enable the company to consolidate its position as
the main processor of farmed deer in Waikato and Bay of Plenty says a joint statement by Summit and Fortex. Fortex, which includes Canterbury Venison (N.Z.), already processes and markets more than 25 per cent of the New Zealand kill of farmed deer and requires
an increasing quantity of venison to satisfy the market’s demand, says the statement. The directors hope the Summit-Fortex joint venture will increase the number of farmed deer going through Summit’s slaughtering plant.
