Bold gallop
PA Dunedin Mill Creek showed he had freshened well with a bold gallop at Wingatui yesterday morning. ‘ Mill Creek and Joan’s Charm finished clear of Mel’s Gem after running 800 m in 49.2 s on a firm inside grass, the last 600 m in 38.45.
Mill Creek was spelled after being unplaced at Winton on October 12. He was a winner at Wingatui in August and won a maiden race on the course last season.
Joan’s Charm, now trained by Graeme Mee, makes a fresh start in the Wilson Handicap at Wingatui on Saturday. She has not raced for six months but had three minor placings in 12 starts last season.
Courier Flight was travelling comfortably alongside Kiwi Boy when running 1000 m in Imin 02.95, the last 800 m in 49.35.
Bi Noble, Courier Flight’s Hazlett Stakes rival, was given pacework by his race rider, John Dowling.
